Sean Ku Wang

Sean Ku Wang, MD

Principal Investigator

Sean obtained his B.S. from Stanford and M.D. from Harvard Medical School, where he worked with Connie Cepko to develop gene-agnostic therapies to combat retinal degeneration. During ophthalmology residency at Stanford, he pursued postdoctoral training with Howard Chang focused on single-cell genomics and RNA medicines. He then completed medical retina fellowship in the Harvard Department of Ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear before returning to Stanford to start the lab in 2026.

Sean has been recognized as a STAT Wunderkind, Forbes 30 Under 30, and a recipient of the American Society of Clinical Investigation Emerging Generation Award and Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award for Medical Scientists among other honors. He is an incoming Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Stanford and retina specialist at Byers Eye Institute.
